Video 1: The Blue Fairy appears to Snow White in her time of need

Connections can be drawn between the Blue Fairy and the Virgin Mary. The way that the Blue Fairy appears in several occasions represents the appearances/apparitions of the Virgin Mary at La Salette and Fatima. When they arrive, they are engulfed in a bright, luminous orb. Two colors are often most commonly associated with the Virgin Mary - blue and white. The Blue Fairy wears a blue dress with shining white spots and her wings are colored light blue. She also appears wearing a cape or mantel which is a common motif associated with Mary.

The Blue Fairy helps people accept responsibility for their own actions, and helps people choose to do the right thing over the wrong. This idea is an important facet in Christianity - namely Catholics. The Virgin Mary was known for doing the same thing. She operated within the communion of saints.

In the town of Storybrooke, the Blue Fairy's alter ego is Mother Superior. She is the head nun at the convent. Nun's are a very common aspect within the Christianity religion. She, like most Christian nuns start up charitable work and is someone for people who are struggling to confide in.

In the video to the right, Snow White asks the Blue Fairy if there is anything that she can do to save her dying mother's life. The Blue Fairy says no, but then remembers the magic of a certain candle. This could be in reference to the lighting of candles when people are ill in the Roman Catholic faith. When people are sick, many Catholics light candles and say prayers. Although the candle the Blue Fairy gives Snow White will take the life of another person, the symbol of the candle is important.
