The Huntsman
Video: The Huntsman spares Snow White's life

Figure 1: Abraham and his son, Isaac
Figure 2: The Huntsman and Snow White
Driven by envy and vanity, the Evil Queen orders a Huntsman to find Snow White in the forest and kill her. To prove that he fulfilled the task, the Queen demands that he bring back Snow White's heart to her. Once given his orders, the Huntsman leaves the castle to venture out and find Snow. He finds her in the woods and is about to obey the Queen's command, however, before he does, Snow White gives him a letter to give to the Queen for her. The huntsman reads the letter and lifts his knife to fulfill his duty, but finds himself unable to do so. Instead he orders her to run deep into the forest and hide. Realizing he does not have a heart to bring back to the Queen he kills a deer and captures his heart.
After seeing this in Once Upon a Time, many Christians may be able to draw parallels to a passage in the book of Genesis - the story of Abraham and his son Isaac. God said to Abraham, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” - Genesis 22:2. Obeying God Abraham went to the mountain. Upon arriving, "Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son." - Genesis 22:9-10. However, much like the Huntsman, Abraham did not slay the thing he was ordered to do so, instead he saw a ram and sacrificed it instead.
